The NZ Unique and Rare Guinea Pigs (Cavy Club) stand as a definitive shield for these vulnerable kiwi breeds:  New Zealand Plume, New Zealand Peruvian, Tweed, Panda, and even the imported breed the Dark Eyed White.  Sadly, due to the rise of imported breed bias, the Bonnet has completely disappeared from New Zealand.  It stands as a sobering reminder of what happens when we fail to protect our homegrown genetic treasures.
