Tintola Cavy Stud

Established in 2001, Tintola Cavy Stud represents a lifelong dedication to the cavy fancy and the advancement of heritage varieties. While active for over two decades, the stud took pivotal action in 2015 when the unique New Zealand Peruvian began teetering on the edge of extinction. Recognising the crisis, Tintola shifted its core focus to protect and rebuild this magnificent long-haired breed. Managed by Club Secretary Jen, Tintola is deeply intertwined with Mamaku Cavy Stud, representing a proud three-generation family legacy united in safeguarding New Zealand's rare cavy heritage. Through strict adherence to genetic health and diversity, Tintola continues to breed top-tier stock, including the exceptional Tintola Ace, who achieved Reserve in Show at the Nationwide Cavy Show in 2022.

Managed by Olivia, who serves as both the Capital Cavy Club Secretary and a dedicated Community Educator for our national club, the stud focuses intensively on breed preservation. Her work spans both protecting the unique native Panda and maintaining the exquisite, rare breed of the imported Dark-Eyed (DE) White. In a historic effort to protect New Zealand’s native cavy heritage, Olivia is also currently collaborating with the owner of the newly discovered Bonnet boar to systematically bring this rare kiwi breed back from extinction. Marquess Cavy Stud is the proud home of the exceptional Grand Champion Marquess Panda-monium, a standout Crested Panda.
